Buckwheat For Couch Control: Field Lab, Cirencester

Buckwheat for couch control field lab: 2pm Friday 24th February 2017 Abbey Home Farm Cirencester

This field lab for Organic Growers Association (OGA) and Land Workers Alliance (LWA) members will attempt to evaluate the potential for buckwheat (and maybe other crops) to reduce couch grass infestations in horticultural rotations. Anecdotal evidence has shown buckwheat to work well within the rotation at Abbey Home Farm (AHF). Can it be built into rotations to reduce the couch grass burden on farms?

A Head Gardener is required at this large mansion gardens and long time WWOOF UK host. The applicant must have management and landscaping experience and an eye for beauty. No chemicals are welcome on this estate. 

The role:

Maintaining a mansion garden and surrounding zones and working together with the head of horticulture who runs the walled garden. 


Permaculture Ambassadors Gathering & Skills Share.

A skills share event for people in the Midlands region of the UK will be held in Birmingham on 10th February 2017.

Permaculture Ambassadors actively share information on inspiring permaculture projects and practices. Being an Ambassador is a great way of developing and practising skills, and gaining confidence in using them. There is a training programme being designed, and this is the first of many gatherings offering the chance to meet others and share skills.
