| Description | Lovely wooden house on top of a hill with spectacular views overlooking the Isle of Skye and down the sound of sleat over the islands of Rhum Eigg and Muck (sic!).
The house is surrounded by gorgeous mature gardens and woods which is where we need help. We want to open the gardens to the public for charity. The grounds were first planted 50 years ago by my parents and I have not had the time until now to finally prepare the garden fully.
There are many and varied extraordinary plantings and the whole is all organically maintained with ponds and beautiful woods. We need to clear the ingress of bracken and weeds and restore the control which is required to show the garden at its best. It is about 3 acres in total size and has all been planted with a view to keeping it as natural and unspoilt as possible, fitting in with the surrounding breathtaking countryside of huge mountains, waterfalls and sandy beaches.
Whoever came to help would live as part of the family, eat with us of course and can take advantage of this fantastic area to explore. many tourists come from overseas to this very special area of the north west Highlands which abounds with wildlife hand in hand with ancient castles (Eilen Donan amongst others) Brochs (5000 year old habitations of the Pictish race) and the stunning Cuilan mountain range on Skye. There our local buses, ferries, bikes to borrow but coming in your own car would be the best if possible.
We would be working with the guests and hours and number of days can be by arrangement (although not in school holidays) there is no particular best time to come but from a visitors point of view May, June and September are often the best for weather and midges!
