Description
Hello! We are a family of 4. We have 14 acres of beautiful pasture and woodland in the North Pennines AONB in Northumberland (north-east England) - just outside the village of Allendale (3 pubs, library, good shop). It has a stream with hay meadow, mature beech woodland, larch plantation, wet wooded pasture, grazing paddocks and young woodland. We are developing it to be a low impact smallholding with permaculture and organic principles as a strong influence to how we approach things. We are off grid with solar and wind power, rain water collection and compost toilet. We keep, eat and get produce from chickens, ducks, geese, Rare breed pigs, A milking cow, Old English goats and working Horses used for horse logging and other farm work as well as cart rides. We have just built a cruck-frame timber house from our own timber, extracted with our horses and milled on site. We have a sawmill and much of our work is timber based. We are landscaping, fencing and planning the vegetable garden this summer.
