Kitchen Manager and Cook required for adult education college and conference venue in Sussex countryside (Emerson College)
We are looking for someone with at least two years cooking experience with a particular interest in vegetarian dishes and organic produce, including soups, salads and desserts in different styles and cuisines.
You must be hard-working, organised, creative and passionate about food, hygiene and customer service. You will be able to work in a high-pressure environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player and able to work unsupervised. You will also be able to work a flexible schedule including public holidays. Typically, you will work Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
Applicants must possess:
Food preparation and cooking, plating, presentation skills
Knowledge and experience of producing high quality vegetarian food
Minimum level 2 food hygiene certificate, preferably level 3 supervising food safety
Kitchen maintenance and cleaning experience
Maintaining and ordering stocks and supplies
Menu planning ability
Team leading experience and excellent communication skills
A passion for delivering good quality, wholesome food
As Kitchen Manager you’ll be responsible for:
training and motivating staff
stock control and ordering
compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations and best practice
accountability for kitchen’s financial performance
as well as the quality of meals!
In return, you will receive an hourly wage and duty meals. This is a full-time position. Starting date is mid August.
We are also looking for a part-time cook for weekend meals (Friday supper to Sunday lunch) who is able to prepare meals for up to 30 people (as and when needed).
