New jobs with the Permaculture Association

The Permaculture Association are currently advertising for four new members of staff - all in newly created roles.

This article contains background information about the posts, full information relevant to each of the posts can be found on the job listings page of the Permaculture Association website here.

Working for the Permaculture Association

The new staff will join our 13 current members of the team. We are a small (but growing) team and we really want people who are conscientious and well organised, able to be flexible, responsive and positive, and prepared to work hard. There is lots to be done and we work together to achieve it.

Our 13 staff are all part time, with a maximum of 30 hours and this isn't going to change with the new roles. We value the benefits of working part time, giving space for other activities in life, whether this is precious family time, volunteering, gardening or other paid work.

Our staff can work their hours flexibly and with events throughout the year and virtual team meetings this is often necessary. Plus, we all have a holiday entitlement of 32 days including bank holidays pro rata.

7 of our 13 staff spend their time working at a place other than our office in Kirkstall, Leeds. For some, that's at home, for others that at a local workspace. This has been a fairly recent change (innovation) and we've learned a lot over the last couple of years. We feel we have good practices to support our distributed workers, also benefiting our work with international permaculture networks and volunteers.

We look forward to learning even more and implementing intelligent, efficient systems that work for all. Currently, we use Slack to communicate with each other and Google Drive to share files. We hope new members of the team will find it straightforward to get used to this way of working.

We are commited to our mission of designing an abundant world in which we care for the earth, each other and future generations, whilst living within nature’s limits. It's positive and exciting that we are able to expand our staff team to help with our work towards that mission.
