Description
We run Britain's most northerly veg box scheme from a 50 acre croft situated in the far west mainland of Shetland. We are committed to providing the local community with chemical free produce, growing with minimal fossil fuel use and reducing Shetland's carbon footprint. We use pigs and spades to clear ground instead of tractors; hand tools for weeding and harvesting. Our enterprise is expanding each year, increasing our growing land and our customers. We keep animals for manure and meat; at present we have 20 Shetland sheep (and their lambs), two pigs, 90 hens, lots of ducks and three cats.

Tasks include clearing ground, sowing, planting, weeding and harvesting; working with livestock, fencing, cutting peat for fuel and erecting polytunnels all depending on the time of year. WWOOFers should be willing to mix with the local community.

We are looking for WWOOFers who are genuinely committed to a sustainable lifestyle, have experience in growing or who are keen to learn about what we do. Please include as much detail about yourselves/experience as you can in your email.
