Description
We have a smallholding in a small village at the foot of the North Pennines, 8 miles east of Penrith, Cumbria. The smallholding has a long history of being organically managed (though not currently certified) and offers the chance to learn about organic production of livestock, eggs, vegetables and fruit.

We particularly welcome people for weekends or long weekends - but we can accommodate longer visits, depending on the time of year.

It is an ideal site for cycling and fell-walking. It is also easy to reach the Lake District and Hadrian’s Wall if you have your own transport.

We are looking for people to help prepare vegetable beds in spring, weeding and harvesting in the summer and autumn. Other jobs include maintenance of grass in the orchard and haymaking. You can also work with cows and hens and occasionally on fencing and dry stone walling.

Accommodation is in a wooden summer house or camping in the orchard, sharing facilities with the main house.
