Description
Our farm is a small agroecological oasis in the middle of industrial agriculture, in the county of Angus on the southern rim of the Howe of Strathmore located close to Montreathmont Wood, a haven of biodiversity. We grow fruit and make juice from fruit including apples, raspberries and elderberries. We need help in tending to the fruit from planting, weeding, harvesting, pruning and other tasks involved in maintaining the farm such as grass cutting. We also pick fruit on other farms and walled gardens. We have plans aimed at improving the farm. Erecting a fruit cage over the aronia (so we might get some of the fruit instead of the blackbirds), building raised beds for veg, creating a blueberry plantation, planting hedges, building new compost area, digging a pond, building a walled garden and renovating a bothy, mending dry stane dykes. We have diverse spaces for development including the orchard, the corn yard, the oak tree walk, the bothies, the garden, the berry field and the greenhouse.
