At a WWOOF UK taster day you will get the chance to visit one of our hosts along with other potential volunteers – we call them WWOOFers – and have a micro WWOOFing experience. There will be some simple growing, gardening or farming activities to complete together, plenty of time for questions and answers and lots of good organic food to eat.
All our taster sessions cost £15 per day, with a £10 discount on your membership fee should you decide to join WWOOF UK at the end of your visit.
Staffordshire: Saturday 27th October 10.30-16.00
Come and experience woodland management and low-impact living in the Peak District.
Your hosts, David and Rosemary, care for a Site of Biological Importance that is half woodlands and half water meadow. They are working to improve habitats and biodiversity and have lots of knowledge to share on woodland management and crafts.
You will probably find yourself moving, cutting and working with wood at some point in the day!
David and Rosemary grow vegetables in their home garden, two miles away, and have a new veg plot on the meadow too. They are not farmers, but, like many of our hosts, aim to live and care for the environment in a sustainable way, their home incorporates many green technologies.
